“Stages of Decay” Photographed by Julia Solis.

The process of decay has always been an interest of mine, especially in abandoned buildings. This is proof of how the feeling within a space can become eerie when it hasn’t been occupied for some time, which is enhanced by the evidence thats been left behind by the buildings previous occupants. What i found interesting about these images was how dramatic the space looks at this stage in decay, and how the stage merely emphasises the decay as if it is framing it, as if it were a show.

‘Spirals’
This brief allowed me to really explore my abstract techniques. All the drawings show overlapping of different images, and they both explore the use of multiple medias.

‘Fish’
These drawings show different sections or several fish in different medias, to create really abstract and detailed drawings.

This was a project similar to ‘Wrapped up’, but this time I was interested in the human face and highlighting certain parts.

These two images show the same coat but in different medias. I love the highlights that have been created in the creases of the coat.

‘Wrapped Up’
These drawings we drawn from a collection of wrapped up natural objects.

‘Wrapped up’

Using pencil and biro to create these small detailed drawings or twigs and acorns wrapped up.

‘Wrapped Up’
These are a few examples of pieces I drew for my self directed project at A level. I took inanimate objects that we would never notice from day to day, and wrapped them up to make these them interesting and to create a sense of mystery around them. I zoomed in on small sections of these objects to create some really intricate drawings using different media.
